Living in Taunton, Massachusetts

Taunton is the county seat of Bristol County, Massachusetts, a larger city than most of the other South Coast towns Sheri serves, with its own mix of urban and residential neighborhoods.

Taunton is a city of distinct neighborhoods rather than one center. Taunton Green anchors downtown, and the city's nickname, the Silver City, comes from the silver industry that helped it incorporate as a city in 1864. Weir Village, just south of downtown on the Taunton River, is known for its 19th-century mills and warehouses. Whittenton, to the north, has some of the city's oldest homes and factories, while East Taunton, North Taunton, Westville, and Oakland are more residential.
