About the School

Old Rochester Regional High School is the final stop in the regional district, welcoming students from Marion, Mattapoisett, and Rochester for grades 9 through 12 on its Marion Road campus. With about 630 students, a strong 63% Advanced Placement participation rate, and a graduation rate of 98.8%, ORR sends the great majority of its students on to college or career with a genuine head start. The school fields a wide range of MIAA athletics — from football and soccer to swim, sailing, and cross country — alongside active drama and music programs, giving students plenty of ways to find their place beyond the classroom.

A standout record: ORR's 2022–23 dropout rate was 0.0%, and 10th-grade ELA proficiency outpaced the Massachusetts state average — Niche ranks it 5th among public high schools in all of Plymouth County.

A bit of history

Like the junior high next door, Old Rochester Regional High School carries a name older than the town it sits in. Marion, Mattapoisett, and Rochester were once a single town — old Rochester — before dividing into three, and when the three communities built a shared high school in Mattapoisett in 1961, they named it for the town they'd all once been part of. A major renovation beginning in 2001 joined the high school to the adjacent junior high on one connected campus, the layout still in use today. The district's reach has grown since: students from neighboring Wareham now attend as well, making a school named for the 1800s a genuinely modern regional hub.
