About the School
Elizabeth Hastings Middle School is the only middle school in the Fairhaven Public Schools district, serving around 415 students in grades 6 through 8. With a student-teacher ratio of about 12 to 1 and three full-time counselors, it focuses on guiding students through the important middle-school years in a nurturing, caring environment.
A standout program: Hastings offers the nationally recognized Project Lead The Way curriculum, hands-on STEM and engineering learning that gives students a real head start before high school.
A Bit of History
The school is named in honor of Elizabeth I. Hastings, a beloved longtime educator who served the Fairhaven school department beginning in 1921 and went on to become principal of the town's junior high school. When the school was renamed in her honor, it recognized decades of dedication to Fairhaven's students. That legacy of care continues today, as Elizabeth Hastings Middle School carries her name into a new generation.
